The new Glaze Meadow Course on the 1,800-acre Black Butte Ranch in central Oregon hardly resembles the original course that opened in 1982. Thousands of trees were removed as part of a $3.75-million renovation that was completed in the spring of 2012. The par-72 Glaze Meadow, one of two championship courses at the resort, now plays at 7,007 yards from the longest of five sets of tees.

Located just minutes from the Redmond airport, the resort offers two championship layouts -- the Ridge Course and Resort Course -- as well as the shorter Challenge Course. It's sure to please any golfer and even some who may not have taken up the game yet.

The Ridge Course is the more wide open of the two championship layouts at Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond, but it's certainly no pushover. While it's generous off the tee, the approach shots can be challenging and the greens aren't easy to read.
