Course seems to be lacking
Went out for a quick 9 holes yesterday only to find that Meriwether has decided to close up the South Course. We played the North course and from the start, it was bad. $18 for 9 holes considering how many weeds were on the fairways, and how most of the fairways had huge cracks in them. I will definitely not be coming back for awhile.
Mud
The only thing Meriweather has going for them is a grass range and decent greens. It's a mud pit in the winter and hard pan everywhere in the summer. There's a small window in the spring to play it when it's firm and green. Overpriced. They need to remove the south course and spend more time with upkeep on the west/north courses.
Typical winter Oregon golf
The course was not busy. It was obvious that all the rain and snow was still showing its effects. Many areas were extremely wet and muddy. The greens were not bad considering. It was a fun day overall even with the mud. I did lose a couple balls that plugged deep into the very soft ground but other then that I enjoyed it.
A place to play
A challenging yet forgiving course, good for all levels of amateur play. It's beautiful, lots of shade and can be so very quiet at times; a relaxing place to spend four hours of any day. Bring a few extra balls.
Walkable to everyone
I'm stuck with the traffic and get there almost 30 minute late , but staff are able to sent me out right away ! The coutse is in good condition but it was so hot that day ! 40-41 'C . I carry my golf bag and had to drink 4 bottle of water . Over all the course is easy to play but if got windy , it's another story !
Good course
Second time at this course, and it is not a bad track
Fairways a little dry, but the greens were in good shape.
Pace of play was a little slow, as the guys in front of me were not very good at all and could only get off 75 yards off the tee box
Good & cheap
Good course, great price. Mostly flat course with some trees, couple of small water hazards, great to walk.
Cart??
Hot deal included cart which turned out to be a pull cart...Read the deal carefully. Power cart was $15 per rider, which I declined. So hot deal was a not so hot deal.
Fun
It was fun, and a somewhat pace of play. The rough was pretty long, greens very nice. a couple of blind t shots which are fun too.
Woth it
Played the original course West/North. They have added nine holes and an executive course. There practice facilities look very good.
Not overly long but you must put your ball in the correct part of the fairway to have a good look at the green. Some sharp dog legs. Par threes are a challenge and most greens are domed. Greens recently plugged but healing fast. Beautiful rural area, well worth the trip and a good value,
Take your wife
Enjoy a nice course with a few challenges, a few long holes. Easy to walk, well managed tee times by the shop so nobody breathing down your neck. Not a lot of trouble to get in. For the money it's a good deal.
Good fun when dry
Played the first really sunny day of Spring. Course was drying out quickly and there were no issues with plugged balls. Greens were in good shape; fairways a bit ragged but with all the rain this Winter it has obviously been tough to mow much. All in all a really fine experience and a great deal from GolfNow.
Poor conditions
Muddy, sloppy mess. Lost 4 balls from being plugged including TWO in the middle of the fairway. Too many leaves and mud to find it. Greens were good considering the rest was bad.
Water logged
There was standing water everywhere. Merriweather is a good open course to play but it does not drain well. I hit a high ball so it would plug 2" deep on every shot which took me that much longer trying to find my ball. I'll play it again when it dries out.
Late season Golf
Greens were in good shape but there were lots of bare spots on the fairways. Young staff was a little rude when asked a simple question. He needs to learn some customer service skills..
Fairways
Fairways and roughs are the same length, I wish fairways were mowed little tighter.
Made walking 18 hole little difficult.
aerated greens
The only negative off the day is that the greens were recently aerated. But even with that they still rolled pretty true. I like the layout of this course because it makes me use a variety of shots turning the ball right and left. Keep it in play and you should do well....this can be said for most courses, but is true for this one.
Good place to play
The Staff was wonderful. worth every penny I will be back. Great deal on Golf Now..
thank you
