Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club - Witch Hollow Course

About
Nestled at the base of the Tualatin Mountains, Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course offers two stunning courses that are surrounded by stands of fir, maple, oak, and ash trees. Robert Cupp designed both courses, incorporating a different set of challenges into each. The Witch Hollow Course is the members-only course, while Ghost Creek is private. The former is considered the slightly more challenging of the two and it has hosted a number of professional tournaments. Although the golf course is seemingly straightforward there are some unexpected challenges in store. The abundant trees that frame the holes demand accuracy and there are also thick cuts of rough that have been known to swallow even slightly errant shots. The 14th hole is a particularly tough par 5 with fairway bunker and trees on the left, more trees on the right, and water protecting the left side of the green.

A Great Golf Experience in Oregon
It took years for me to finally play here, but now after 2-3 rounds it's easily one of my favorite in Oregon.
The greens are always in perfect condition, regardless of time of year. But in the summer and fall the course is just perfect from tee to green. Not only that but it's a fun layout with gettable par 5's. Plenty of risk reward and fun holes.
The experience is also superior to any public course, even as a guest. The range is quiet, everyone is very friendly and everything is as it should be for a private club.
Fantastic course in a beautiful setting
I had seen this course on TV before and actually played it on EA sports Tiger Woods video game. But these don't do it justice. Just a fantastic, fair golf course. And I even managed to break 100 from the red tees! Can't wait to play it again.
Great course but expensive
I've played ghost creek and witch hollow a few times now. They are both great courses with some excellent holes. Without question the high point of these courses is the greens. They are phenomenal. Super fast and smooth regardless of the season (slower in winter of course). The fairways are also very lush and manicures.
That being said I can't let that justify the price pumpkin ridge charges. 50% of their asking prices would be more justified.
With the history at ghost creek and the quality of the course it's definitely worth a visit by any enthusiastic golfer.
Awesome course, loved it!
Pumpkin Ridge (Witch Hollow) is one of my favorite courses I've ever played. With all of the history with the USGA events, it makes it that much more special to play it yourself.
The course was in perfect shape and definitely very challenging in spots. Accuracy is key and the rough was tough as well.
The range is great, food is awesome, and the club is really neat. Worth the trip!
A great track that is best in the summer
IMO, Pumpkin Ridge offers the best 36 holes in the Portland area. Classic courses with subtle design patterns that make differences in pin placement and tee box setup matter. In August, it just doesn't get any better.
These courses have never drained well, so the wet months are sloppy. You will lose balls that should be found in the rough. You will plug in the fairway at times. You will test the waterproofing in your shoes.
The springtime rough is overly penal (in my 10-handicap opinion). This is exacerbated by the lack of an intermediate cut.
Better than Ever
This course seemed to be just as good as when I first played there in 1993 when it was created to host the U.S Open. Although it has hosted the US Amateur (TWs fourth), the Junior Amateur and the Woman's Open, the USGA has selected other venues for its Open most notably Chambers Bay in three months.I have played both of these courses and would have a hard time choosing one over the other.
