Bandon Dunes at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort: The original course might still be the best
BANDON, Ore. -- Golf Digest voted Bandon Dunes Golf Resort the best golf resort in North America in 2011, and it all began with Bandon Dunes.
Designed by Scotland's David McLay Kidd, the Bandon Dunes Course offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. The course is completely natural, and deer a common sight. So are bunkers, and they are difficult to escape.
The 415-yard, par-4 fourth was selected one of the top 500 holes in the world by Golf Magazine in 2000. It also offers the first view of the Pacific Ocean on the course. The par-4 16th plays along Pacific and is an outstanding risk-reward hole.
