Skamania Lodge - The Gorge 9

About
Tucked amidst the waterfalls, peaks, forests and canyons of the Columbia River Gorge lies a rustic mountain resort called Skamania Lodge. The Lodge offers a challenging golf experience you will not soon forget! This 9-hole par three course winds through the forest and around ponds, with peace, quiet and perhaps some curious wildlife many times your only company. The course is designed for walking with a very few carts available for ADA purposes, which must be reserved in advance by calling the Golf Shop. Located about an hour east of Portland, cross the Bridge of the Gods in Cascade Locks and follow the signs.

Beautiful Course
Amazing views. The greens are turf and are really fast. Overall great experience.
Skamania Course is awesome
Skamania offers great golf activities that includes nine holes of golf, an 18 hole putt-putt course that’s drop dead gorgeous, and frisbee options. Enjoy great food in the lodge with views of the gorge and mighty Columbus River, surrounded by ambiance that will bring you back many more times. Guy, the golf operations manager in the pro shop , is key to every visitors dream destination by providing excellent customer service with a warm welcoming feeling, Guy provides the bow on the top of your ultimate golf package.
Good for kids
I took my kid up there and it is a decent par 3 course, I do wish they had real greens rather than artificial turf but for starting out golfing it was fun.
Par 3
Synthetic tee boxes and greens a 9 hole par 3 is definitely aimed at hotel guests rather than serious golfers.. That said, it was still fun in a beautiful setting in the Columbia river gorge..
Beautiful location if you can handle the turf
Played early Sunday morning and almost had the place to ourselves. Lovely. Tons of small flies/gnats on the course that the awesome guy in the shop said would be gone in a week.
The par 3 course is beautiful. There are 3 sets of tees to vary the length of your tee shot. I think the longest was 207 yards, most were within 110-170. Feels like you’re playing a prestigious country club in the forest. Only downside is the turf greens and turf tee boxes. Didn’t really impact my putting because I’m awful, but it did take away from the experience - for me anyway.
Definitely worth a visit, but I wish I’d come here before it was turned into a par 3. Out on the course, it’s pretty easy to see what the holes used to look like. Wow!
Great Executive Course
Lots of fun and it was interesting putting on artificial grass. The staff was great and laid back. Lots of fun.

Beautiful course
Very surprised at the course. Wasn't expecting anything special but it was beautiful. Staff was awesome very friendly. Definitely will play again soon.
Skamania Lodge 2.0
Skamania was always one of my favorite courses to play even though I considered it quite difficult. Skamania has remodeled the course to be much more friendly and easier to get around for the more casual golfer. I like the final product. The course was in good condition, the staff was friendly (as always), and the views can't be beat. I think the new layout has achieved the aim of making the course more approachable for the casual golfer while retaining the things that made the course unique including elevation changes and great scenery. Advanced golfers will be able to work their short game in the tightish confines and casual golfers will enjoy the approachability and scenery.
nice course but turf greens are not golf
Very beautiful course. Challenging because of tight fairways. But that makes it fun. The one thing they got wrong is the greens. They are turf and not grass. I gave it a try but it was a really bad experience. Balls just skid along the surface. You can't ground your putter behind the ball flatly. I would go back again to try for a better score except for those turf greens.
Incredible views
Unique, challenging layout. Amazing views of Columbia River gorge.
4 team scramble
A most excellent day. Perfect weather. Great course conditions. We all had fun. Golf course pro and director, Guy, is super every time!
Tight fairways
If I had hit my tee shots well I would have scored well. Beautiful scenery, challenging course with tight fairways. Plays short, but the tight fairways make up for it. I would strongly recommend a cart as it it very hilly. Side hill lies are the norm. I would play it again if I ever figure out how to hit a ball off the tee box, but not at the resort price ($85). Did I mention tight fairways?!!
Challenging terrain!
Overall a fantastic course.
Tee boxes small and torn up is the only complaint.
Beautiful challenging course!
Course management necessary
Most of the holes are considerably narrower than what you are used to. Some severe uphill and downhill holes and thick blackberry vines that eat balls interspersed among the big trees that knock down wayward shots. Tees and fairways were about average, greens were in very good shape. Speed was reasonable. Can’t say about the sand, must have missed it all. This place is a challenge, found myself thinking around it like a links course. From what I found in the bushes I’d say most folks are leaving their good balls at home as it could get expensive. Only hit five drivers today and played my best round here.
Beautiful grounds
From the time we entered the pro shop to completing our round we enjoyed the beauty, weather and immaculate course. The greens are true and the hills and fairways are cut and kept in pristine condition. I would rank this course highly and I would play it again.
Still as fun as ever
Even though it's a short course, I rated it "Somewhat Challenging" due to how much fun I have playing elevation golf. I arrived too late for my normal warm-up routine and it showed. I shot 44 on the front before I found my range on the back, where I shot a tidy 38.
The course condition was excellent, the greens were as tricky as ever, and we finished our round in 3:05 ... and that was with picking up a single to play with us on the 7th.
Just another smooth, fun, and economical place to play, with good draft beers & some slightly over-priced food. I love Skamania.
